CHANDIGARH: The air simply refuses to shed its thick white cloak. While fog (condensed water vapour in cloud-like masses lying close to the ground and limiting visibility) threatens to throw life out of gear in Tricity during early mornings and late nights, clear skies during the day promise sunny moments.
“Dense fog in the morning will occur in many parts of Indo-Gangetic plains during the next 48 hours and scattered rainfall is expected in the northwest from January 12 onwards,” predicted Met officials on Friday, when the maximum temperature in Chandigarh stopped at 17.6 degree Celsius, two notches below normal, and minimum recorded 6.4.
Sipping piping hot coffee at Sector 17 piazza residents basked in the sun’s warmth after a tough time the previous night, when fog had blurred vision. With no traffic cops in sight, it was left to people to find their way out.
Not forecasting any significant changes over the next couple of days, weathermen said, “Cold days will remain during next 48 hours and ground frost may also occur.”
